I think my cartilage piercing is infected? Help?!?
2 days ago (April 11th) my friend pierced my cartilage with a needle, she sterelised it and pierced it and she put a sterling silver earring in.
I cleaned it with warm water from the kettle mixed with salt twice a day and twisted it.
I didn’t sleep on it or anything.
Today i washed my hair and i think i may have aggravated it, around the stud the ear is a light purple colour, and it is really sore if i touch it and hurts off and on, at the back it is slightly swollen from what i have been told (i asked my friend to look)
i don’t know if it is infected or not, does this mean it is? if so what should i do?

Purple? Purple is never a good colour. It is at a too early stage to be developing a keloid, so I reckon it’s just bruising, from the blunt needle that caused trauma to your poor cartilage by your not-very-clever friend who used a sewing needle to pierce your ear. Your cartilage probably has suffered a lot of pushing, and squeezing, so just think about what your face looks like after you’ve been punched. It’s a mini black-eye.
