stainless steel chimney?
I’m installing a new double wall stainless steel insulated class A chimney on my house. Because the basement walls are only about 2′ above ground, my contractor is planning on setting the insulated T into a footing, then covering it with concrete. I won’t be able to access the cleanout plug from the outside but I can take the pipe off from the inside to clean out debris.
My question is, is this a good idea to have the T encased in concrete? Do they ever typically need replacement? This is quality pipe made by Supervent and is covered by a lifetime warranty, but it makes me a little uneasy knowing what will be involved if the T ever needs to be replaced.
well i would drill a small hole in the center of the cap then sit the cap on a bout 7 inches of rocks then do the cement thing around it….. it will drain any moisture……. other then that i dont know…the cement shouldnt bother the metal …the only time i replaced thenm was from them getting pysically damedged (dented up)
