How to turn blue flame yellow in outdoor natural gas firepit?
I recently installed a natural gas firepit in my backyard. It is supplied by a line straight from the meter, fed to a 20″ three ring burner. It is filled with lava rock and topped with fireplace logs. The flame is solid blue in color. I want the flame to be yellow in color because this is obviously more natural looking. I understand that blue means a cleaner more efficient burn. I don’t want that, I want a yellow log fire look.
If I let the fire burn for 30-40 minutes and the logs get hot. The flames slowly turn yellow, however this is after 30-40 minutes. I want the flames yellow when I light it, not after I’ve ripped through $20.00 in gas to get the look I want.

At your local fireplace center they will have an assortment of powders that can be sprinkled on the logs for any color. It’s fun and some even have fragrances. Go for it!!
