How to Clean Your Gas Grills and Make It Look New
Most people love to have small outdoor bbq parties with their family and friends over the weekend that keeps your old bbq grill busy with all the hamburger and steak grilling. Have you ever thought that your gas grill needs a makeover, too? Imagine all the leftover ash that can build up on your grill, the fat and the grease that drips off when you’re grilling your food in time all these can affect the overall performance of your grill and not only that, it may also affect the taste of your food.
Getting the best taste out of your food is as important as keeping your grill clean. A clean grill provides optimum performance for you to have all those scrumptious grilled and smoked foods. Proper maintenance will prolong the life of your grill as well thus, saving you money in buying a new one. Just think of the money you can save if you buy a brand new grill like Weber Summit grill and other popular, reliable brands then compare the amount of money you will be spending if you clean and maintain your grill.
Preparing for Your Grill Makeover
Get all the materials you need like wire brush grill scraper to scrape off the accumulated residues on your grill, liquid grill cleaner for softening and removing the food residue from your grill, toothpick or wooden skewers to poke on the holes of your gas grill burners, paper, towels, garbage bag and your Hoover upright vacuum cleaner or if you have a hand – held vacuum cleaner so much the better. This will suck out all every bits of dust off your grill. These cleaning supplies are not expensive and you can use them again over time.
Cleaning the Interiors of Your Grill
Start your makeover with a good scrub but before doing that, make sure you disconnect and remove the gas tank if you’re having a gas grill or bbq smoker. Now, you’re ready to clean your grill. Start off by taking it apart and begin removing the top grates and set them aside on your old newspapers laid on the ground or any table near your cleaning area. Then move on by taking all the other removable parts from the main grills, rotisseries, upper racks and drip pans.
Be ready with your soap and water and soak all the removable parts while cleaning the main grill. This will loosen up and dissolve all those stubborn grease to make your scrubbing easier.
Your next step is to start cleaning your gas grill burners that run across your entire grill and poke on the holes with a toothpick or wooden skewers to clear up all the clogged materials and later vacuum the surrounding edges to make sure that you collect the remaining debris.
Now, you’re ready to clean your grill grates and spray it with your grill cleaner solution. Let it stand for 5 – 10 minutes and then start scrubbing on the grates with your brush scraper until it is clean. Then, start cleaning all the removable parts which you soaked on soap and water and dry them up with a towel.
Lastly, you vacuum all the remaining debris that might have fallen on the burners and the grill grates. Then, reassemble your grill back and make sure that all the parts placed back into your grill and turn on the valve of the fuel tank.
Cleaning the Exteriors of your Grill
You’re almost done with your grill makeover. After placing back all the parts close your grill and spray it with a glass cleaner or a stainless cleaner if you’re having a Stainless Grill cover and wipe it off with paper towels. Then cover your grill with a grill cover to protect your grill from the weather and other elements that may cause damage to it.
