Can a concrete planter be used as firebowl?
We found a lovely large concrete planter bowl and would like to use it as a firebowl for a wood fire but are worried it might crack. Can the concrete take the heat? and if not, is there some way to line it with sand or rocks to discipate the heat? We have also considered putting gravel or rock in the planter then putting a cheap copper firepit bowl on top of that in the planter, but we don’t want to spend the money on the planter then have it break. Would sand or rock ‘insulation’ do the trick and if so, which is better and how much would we need? Any concrete engineers out there?? Thanks!
no its a bad idea concrete gets brittle when expose to extreme heat,
